For comparison, the 67 Camaro AIM lists 3846202 "SCREW ASM" which I know first hand is a screw with a floating washer (same as a the version of a front sheet metal screw that has a washer).

I checked on the Parts Wiki to see if 9420555 is listed anywhere, in case it would have a description of the bolt type listed. Interestingly, it is not listed in any of the Chevy parts books on the Wiki, not even the "Standard Parts" book. But it is listed in an Olds book as:

- front lower shock "bolt" for a 67-70 Olds (except Toranado), and

- shifter attaching "screw" on a 70 Olds with floor shifted TurboHydramatic.

I checked AMK and they don't have anything with 9420555 cross-referenced as the OEM part number. I don't think similar design bolts were necessarily grouped together as to their part numbers, so this is probably completely irrelevant; but they do have 9422550 which is a shorter version of the exact same style 5/16" bolt in the first picture above, and 9423545 which is a longer version of the same bolt. For whatever that may be worth ...

As comparison the 68 Nova used 3846202. Listed as Screw in the AIM.

This is 5/16-18x7/8" & Washer 5/16" Also used on the 64 Corvair on the front Shock. Listed in the Jan 70 907 lists 5/16"-18 x 7/8" Long, Plain Finish, 280M STEEL S.A.E. #5 Page 13 with the normal hex bolts. Then on Page 19 under Bolt, Hexagon Head (Machine Screws) (Special Service) 5/16"-18 x 7/8" Long, W/Flat Washer and in the 83 Standard Parts Catalog as Bolt Asm, Hex Head, - With Conical Spring Washer. Does that mean it could have come with or without a washer?

In 69 the Nova used 9420555 Screw. There is a handwritten note in the AIM before is was copied for distribution (5/16-18-7/8 P7 HWH 1444253) HWH = Hex Washer Head. No listing in any of my parts books.

In 70 the Nova used 3968521 Screw replaces 9420555 May 69. AMK lists 3968521 like KevinW posted. While the Corvette parts placed show it with a loose washer. Not hits in my standard parts books. Camaro supply houses have it both ways.

The 70 Acadian lists 3968522. Again no hits in the standard parts books.

The parts books can't solver this one.

Cheers, Greg
