Instrument panel was probably changed over the years to get the wood and tach.
15-16 years ago, I tried to buy one with the HO 326 and 4 speed. Seller claimed his dad bought it new and it was all original. Except it was in northern Iowa and was quite rusty. After the family stopped driving it with around 100k, they parked it and let it decay for 30 yrs. He was attempting to get the engine to loosen up and turn over. He wanted about the same price as a basket case GTO and wouldn't budge, so I passed and bought a '67 GTO instead. Don't recall for certain, but that one may have a been a '67 too.
