Clean '66 Lemans, Orig 326/4-sp
I hate the stripes, but the seller claims this car was originally ordered with the current 326/4-speed combo and Platinum paint. Pretty sharp combo and looks very dry. But...the stripes would have to go if it were mine....
Still, not a lot of decent stuff on the market under $20k. You're right, Tony, that stripe is hideous on that car.
Wish he had the PHS, but if it was a true HO 326, the price would, most likely, be higher. Appears the rear window, or trunk seal leak badly. Other than that, no obvious issues. |
The last photo shows a stack of PHS papers, but that does no good if he doesn’t show the option pages.
No mention that it’s a 326 HO. That engine block code would be WR (3047 built), but no photo of that either. I see a posi tag on the rear end. Also ziebart plugs on body jams. All Cordova (vinyl) tops leak terribly (numerous clip holes) from the aluminum trim which allows water into the trunk compartment. Odd that this Lemans dash has the wood veneer. Only GTO’s came from the factory with that feature. |
Instrument panel was probably changed over the years to get the wood and tach.
15-16 years ago, I tried to buy one with the HO 326 and 4 speed. Seller claimed his dad bought it new and it was all original. Except it was in northern Iowa and was quite rusty. After the family stopped driving it with around 100k, they parked it and let it decay for 30 yrs. He was attempting to get the engine to loosen up and turn over. He wanted about the same price as a basket case GTO and wouldn't budge, so I passed and bought a '67 GTO instead. Don't recall for certain, but that one may have a been a '67 too. |
