Looking at that chart, The Y77 and Y87 are almost Identical other than the Y77 having one smaller bolt thread on one terminal !

Yep 3/8" & 5/16" terminal bolts were intended to prevent cross cabling.You needed to have 2 different size wrenches on hand,but was inconvenient,so many just used pliers/channel locks or Vise grips to turn those suckers and strip their heads.That's why the optional 1970 R79, that had em also,went away in favor of the newly designed R89 in 1971,which didn't.

I bought a new design, high output 1,000 amp battery from Sears in about '79 that was 12" long and it fit the tray. Too bad the batteries became famous for exploding as mine did...
