Great pics and both appear to be the probable ZL1 early car.
No hood stripes as pic before York shot above also looks like the 9 on driver's windshield so possibly the same day?

Is that a modified cowl hood or a modified "stinger" hood, or neither?

I think neither. Looks to be a production standard hood that had a fiberglass stinger glassed in; then the tunnel-ram scoop added later.
