Default R59 Battery Case - Empty Display Model w/caps& eye

I have an NOS reproduction R59 battery case with no internal components -(I know "NOS repro" sounds contradictory but it is old, unused and it is a repro, so I guess that is the correct description )

I had gotten this several years ago to use as a display piece with my Z11 Pace Car but never took it out of the box til the other day when The Wife told me to do some Spring cleaning in the basement - So I have to at least make an effort to try to sell something to prove I actually did clean the basement and not just sit on the couch and watch TV while making some clanging noises every few minutes to make her think I was actually cleaning.

So, here is the link to the ebay auction - no reserve.

I dont know what you might use an empty battery case for, but it does come with 5 perfect repro caps and one "Delco Eye" electrolyte level indicator that could be used on a "live" battery.

Thanks, Steve

Steve: I didn't see this until it was too late...do you remember where you got the battery case? Or does anyone know where I could get one??

Rob,
Remind me to show you what I did with my 'expired' repro Delco. Fairly simple work.

You can hollow these out pretty easily yourself, once you get the hang of it if you have an old WET sulfated R59 from New Castle or AAB.I've done 6 of them so far.
Rob,I brought two of these shells down to SCR9 two years ago and showed it to you along with handing you a Xerox of the photo instructions.

Yeah, but I was hoping to just buy a case & not have to waste a perfectly good battery...but for some reason the battery places won't just sell me a case? Oh well...

I got it from New Castle Battery before they went out of business in 2004. I dont know if anyone will sell just the case any more.

If you have a dead restoration style battery Gut it and then you can either go super light with a feather weight Lithium Ion battery or you could use a standard Mazda Miata battery right under your old case. For example the Miata Battery has 500CCA, all then you have to do is jump it into the case terminals and you are all set.

Didn't Kwhizz have a similar setup in his Gold Nova at one time?

Ken bought the reproduction R79,(R89 really),side terminal which actually has a smaller battery source inside.

Yeah, that's what mr70 told me above, and showed me the how-to article last year...but we *don't* have a battery, as all of repros were junk so I threw them as far as I could...and rather than ruin a perfectly good battery (and then have to deal with the left overs) I was hoping I could just start with a case...and there will be something inside of it, just not another battery!
