did the 1st gen cars ever come with a 396? I thought they only came w/ the 302

Yes you are wrong. a first gen even had three different hp levels.

Try going over to www.camaros.org and surf around a bit. There is a wealth of first generation Camaro information over there from available engine and transmission options to paint and interior codes. Excellent informational site to learn about the first gen Camaros.

Thank you guys for all the help I really like the 1st gen camaros and was shocked at the prices and how many cars are misrepresented. I will check those sites and look into the book thanks again

I may be wrong, but i think he is referring to Z28s and a 302
