![]() ![]() Here's the flyer my buddy in Jersey sent me...his words... "1968 Corvette L-89 427 coupe" "This car is a body off restored numbers matching real L-89 Car. Only 624 of these were made. It was off bodied by Tim Thorpe of Thorpe Restorations in Ofallon, Illinois. He is a Bloomington Gold Judge. He also feels this car could have been a C.O.P.O ( central office production order) car because of the options that it has (who knows). I also have the tank sticker and 1 old title. Almost everything replaced on this engine was done by Duckworth Racing to factory specs (uses leaded fuel). Even though this car was restored I went over car according to the assembly manual and purchased many parts I felt weren't quite right or not nice enough. Example: Real G< old stock radio knobs...paid $300.00 ..... these knobs were only used on 68 Corvettes, no other year, no other model. The list goes on and on..... I drive this car periodically and it is very fast and very reliable. It does not overheat in traffic as many big block cars did. It wins trophys..........no bragging........just fact............ $55,000 now.......will be in the 60's by the fall............... the car is stored in an environmentally controlled garage....... This car is a steel block, aluminum head 427 rated at 435 horsepower (tri- power) which has actually been found to be 500 horsepower. The L-88 car had a bit more tweaking and a huge 4 bbl carb and was 550 HP. Here are the options this car has....4 speed, Power steering, J56 brakes (heavy duty power disc brakes), headrest option, telescopic steering wheel, am-fm stereo radio, the original pollution pump (not a repro), rally wheels, speedminder speedometer, and reproduction Firestone Bias Belted redline wide oval tires (not radials, like the originals) It is Silverstone silver with a black interior. I have a notorized letter from Corvette Mike stating that this is a numbers matching car...Tim Thorpe Restorations has all documentation on this car as to it's originality. ![]() CALL: Gary Burd (owner) 609-971-7954 Bob Dischert 954-481-9310 |
