I was looking to buy this rear end, but I need a '69.
In checking it out, I discovered something strange in the stamped code. It's a 3.08 posi/12 bolt. ![]() Any opinions on the axle stamping? ![]()

The slash is a way to determine the difference between the letter oh (O) and the number zero (0). I remember having to use this while in the military so has not to confuse the two. Normally though, you would slash the zero's.

I've never seen an original code with a slash. Anybody?

I know, that's why I said it's normally the other way around.
I think who ever grabbed the stamp had it backwards. Never can tell what they did. Just adds a little more mystery to it. Rick H. |

The person stamping it must have either partied hard the night before, thought it was Monday and came to work or they were working overtime.

I wasn't aware that they had any zero's with the slash as
fonts back then. Can anyone verify the use of the slashed- zero anywhere else in that timeframe? STeve

I have a 1970 COU rear assembly stamped using the zero.
Dated April I believe.
