Hhmmm, really?!!
Cool! I might have something here. This thing is stamped CE. I was searching to see what this might be before I do anything to it. Is there any lists that state any CE info? Like : the following numbers after the CE code?

JoeG is right.Look for the External oil cooler provisions to confirm a 4 bolt main block. If not there,it's a 2 bolt.
The numbers stamped after the CE code, will tell you the year & Sequence number of that short block,& plant it is from. Example:CE 050000=1970,50000 unit produced from Tonawanda plant. |

Well, Yes...it is a factory 4-Bolt main block. The hi-perf is there. The date code on the back of the block is
"K..4....9" The best part is that it has already been Pressure checked and mag'd...Guy I got it from said it was out of a vette from years ago, been sitting for 20+ years and by the looks of the water jackets I'd say it hasnt been used since. The crank bearings were all GM std. on both mains and rods. The crank is a steel piece and the only # I could find on it was "7115". There are a couple of Delta triangle images stamped into the front countrweight and also an "X2614" stamped in that area as well. ![]()

Thanx everyone! Any Idea on the camshaft...Im leaning towards this being a dealership L88 engine...the heads were gone, as well as the intake and distributor and the rods were 7/16 rods

To answer your PM. Your block shows CE 077328 it decodes to: C=Chevrolet E=Engine 0=last digit of the model year,in your case 1970. 77328=Sequence number of that engine.Tonawanda started production from number 50001 to 79999.Yours is the 27,328th unit produced from that plant. |
