Rick
The packaging is what makes the part worth some money. The filter is by Mr. Gasket and Joel just repackaged the stuff back then in his own packaging. The filter is still available from Mr. Gasket and is in the Summit catalog for $9.99 Should be worth something to a Motion collector but have no idea. The value would be ruined by opening the package. Dave |

It is completely sealed and never opened I was going to put it on ScamBay but rather get an idea of what it is worth fairly and maybe offer here to a collector instead

Rick, there was a auction on eBay (Motion parts lot)a few weeks ago that contained a similar type fuel filter. The auction was for a used Fly-eye air cleaner, 3 packaged by MP chrome oil breathers, packaged by MP fuel filter, decals and Lit. Do not recall how much $ the seller got for those items. Items like the oil breathers and clearveiw fuel filter may be worth more in there original packaging by Motion.

Everytime I see the clear sight fuel filter I am reminded of a ride I took with my wife on out way back home from college.
I put one of these on my wife's 1971 340 Duster at the time because it looked cool. My pop told me to get it off because they leak. I didn't listen. My wife and I had ben arguing and the car was quiet. We were climing Nittany Mountain and my wife (girlfriend at the time)was pushing the car rather hard- 100+ MPH up the mountain. I noticed the car breaking up a little and softly asked her to pull over. She replied sharply- DO I HAVE TO! I sarcastically remarked that she didn't have to do anything. Well by the time we crested the mountain fuel was actually finding its way into the interior of the car. I made my wife aware of this and she decided to pull over. With the car parked, I couldn't find where the feul was leaking from. Soon as she fired the motor up I knew! The fuel was spraying out of the seam where the metal meets the glass and was being sprayed back by the fan! What a mess! Well, I found a John Deer store and got a fuel filter and an air cleaner and made them work for the ride home. Got home and my pop reminded me how I never should have been running the filter. Cool packaging, but I'll never own one again ![]() |

Years ago a Kid I worked with had one of those glass screw together filters on a 62 Impala. It unscrewed and caught on fire.....

When you consider the fly-a-part flex-a-lite fans, the fire trap glass fuel filters, EZ ignite fly eye air cleaners, and top all that off with a quick burnin 'glass hood it's a wonder we have any original Motion cars with us today. I'm thinking maybe the console mounted fire extinguisher should have been a more popular Phase III add on.

Still have my original glass fuel filter (manufactured by Alondra inc. Los Angeles Calif) on the car. They were rated for 10 psi. so you had to check your fuel pressure. Purolator offers that same gas filter, at least as of a few years ago,(still by Alondra inc. Los Angeles Calif.)I always had my fire extinguisher close by ,especially after the F.D. and P.D. raided 1st ave during after hours racing and was one of the many cars that recieved a summons for parking a vehicle within 50ft. of a wooden dock without a fire extinguisher in the vehicle.
