Default 65 IMPALA trim tag decode

this is on ebay
65 implala 409 4speed

vin# 166375D105989
TRIMTAG
65-16637 BODY BA 1301
TR 831 PAINT CC

I find that it is an SS but is that 409 correct for this car as well as a 4 speed???

Will, I don't believe you can tell the engine size from the trim tag. Here's some of the information which you may already know:

16637 - Impala SS 2 door hardtop V8.
831 - blue bucket seats.
CC - Ermine White, no vinyl top.

What is the build date of your car? You could order a 409 up until Feb. 15, 1965. After that the 396 was the only big block option. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif[/img]

I can confirm that you can not derive any option information from the info you posted from that tag. There are no Accessory Codes at all.

The CC does not necessarily mean that the car did not have a vinyl roof. Doraville never distinqushed vinyl roof or convertible on their trim tags.

I had a 67 SS427 convertible from doraville, the only thing on the tag was the interior color and exterior color (KK) They never put any options on the tag either. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/scholar.gif[/img]
