Default 7" headlight bucket and ring questions

Hopefully the very knowledgeable members here can help me with some mysteries.

After seeing the T-3 Headlight post, I looked at all my 7" headlight bulbs and rings.

1st, I have one galvanized bucket, with a 1" wide ring. The mounting method is strange to me, it is not the 3 screw tabs, but a metal tongue type thing. Anyone recognize this?

2nd, are black buckets with 1/2" wide ring. Any clue what they are from?

Lastly, A buddy gave me some rings in opened NOS packages (not sure if they are). GR 2.726 #5952000. I found an ebay seller stating that part # is for a 74-75 Laguna. Seems to be a typical GM service part, being marked correct for a whole range of cars from 40s Chevy's, 55-57 Corvette and other 2 light systems until 1975. They measure 3/4" wide, but real 69 Camaro rings are 1" wide.

Is there a more accurate car these came from vs a service replacement part?

Are people really paying $150 for a NOS pair of these? (HBC)

Any help on the mystery buckets, so I can find a home for them, would be appreciated.

Ok, did some image searching...

galvanized bucket is from a 56-57 Chevy (tri-five)

pair of black buckets is from a 73-79 (80) chevy truck (square body)

No clue why I have these, since i have never owned either of these.

On the sell pile they go...

KevinW,

Besides what you found, 5952000 was also used on the 62-75 Nova, 67-69 Camaro, 71-73 Vega, 73-75 Camaro & Laguna. I suspect there the later version of the rings. IIRC the change was around 1970 when the design of the ring changed. I have seen some listed with 1" or 1 1/16" wide rings. Going price about 35 on up each.

Galvanized buckets were used on the 68 Nova before later changing to black paint.

Does this help?

Greg

Thanks Greg. The 5952000 ones I have are 3/4", so likely a 70s version. The 60s rings are 1" mainly. The truck ones are 1/2"
