2004 Yamaha YZ250 Chad Reed Tribute

PLEASE CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS.** This unique 2004 Yamaha YZ250 Chad Reed Tribute Motocross Motorcycle is an awesome piece for a motocross enthusiast or collector. It was professionally restored by expert John Chang of Moto Scrub located in California. The entire build from start to finish is fully documented on a You Tube video which is presented in the gallery. This video has 82,000+ views and is a MUST SEE! It was completed in 2023 with only 12 minutes run time on VP Racing fuel. Upon completion it was sold to MS CLASSIC CARS and has been used as a display piece in the showroom. October of 2025 is the first time it's been for sale. Chad Reed is a professional Australian motocross and supercross racer. He is a two-time AMA Supercross 450cc champion, a one-time AMA Motocross 450cc champion; record holder for the most main event starts in AMA Supercross history with 265 starts as well as podium finishes with 132. Riding for Factory Yamaha, in 2004 Chad won the 2004 AMA 250cc Supercross series, battling with Kevin Windham, Michael Byrne and Tim Ferry with Chad earning 10 victories for the season. This example is a tribute to the championship bike. Chad retired in 2020 and is considered one of the greatest motocross and supercross riders of all time. This 21 year old classic motocross motorcycle was the product of a complete nut and bolt restoration. Prior to the restoration it was a low hour original example. It was disassembled to the bare frame. The semi-double cradle steel frame was cleaned and retains its original blue paint. The frame was outfitted with a Lightspeed carbon fiber plastic frame guard, grip tape and Pro Pegs foot pegs. The original two gallon fuel tank was polished and a new OEM petcock was installed. A set of plastics from Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing was added which includes the front number plate, front fender, radiator shrouds, side number plates and rear fender. The plastics were decorated with decals including Chad Reed #22 badging. It also was setup with Lightspeed carbon fiber plastic fork covers, brake covers and chain guard. It was outfitted with a black and blue gripper style seat cover. The suspension was completely vapor blasted which included the swing-arm, rear shock and clevis. The front inverted Kayaba forks with 12.4 inches of travel were revalved with Race Tech Gold Valves and monoshock with 13.2 inches of travel was revalved and completely rebuilt. The black handlebars have a Pro Taber pad, Pro Taber grips, ARC black levers and ARC clutch cover. The Nissin braking system was vapor blasted and rebuilt with new parts. It's equipped with a 250mm front brake disc and 245mm rear brake disc. The original 249cc liquid-cooled two stroke engine was completely vapor blasted and disassembled. The top end was rebuilt including a Wiseco Racer Elite piston. The cylinder head was modified by Pro Circuit. Some other engine parts include VForce3 Reeds by Moto Tassinari, GYTR side cover and Lightspeed carbon fiber side cover. The original Keihin carburetor was cleaned and completely rebuilt. The engine is rated with 53hp and has a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine breathes through a Pro Circuit Works Pipe and Pro Circuit Ti-2 Shortly Carbon Kevlar Titanium Silencer. It's equipped with a DID 520 gold chain. The Takasago rims were rebuilt including re-lacing and truing. The wheels were mounted to Bridgestone Battlecross X20F tires that are 80/100-21 on the front and 110/90-19 on the rear. A new FX Factory Effex V.1 Yamaha blue stand is included. |
