1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS Z28
$179,900 “MS CLASSIC CARS is known nationally for specializing in show quality first generation Camaro Z28 models that have been certified authentic by experts Jerry MacNeish and Larry Christensen. I'm proud to have owned and sold some of the best examples known to exist which include ten first generation Camaro's that have achieved the Legend Concours Award at the Camaro Nationals. This Larry Christensen certified Lemans Blue 1969 Camaro RS Z28 is an absolutely beautiful example!” – Marc Schiliro This breathtaking 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport Z28 has been restored to show quality standards throughout. It was certified authentic by expert Larry Christensen of Mr. Camaro Enterprises on March 8th, 2025. The report and certificate of authenticity is included. Larry is a National Certified Camaro Judge and first generation Camaro restoration expert. He's one of the eight judges for the first generation Camaro Legend Concours Class at the Camaro Nationals. It was featured as a full page advertisement in Car Culture Magazine in 2019 which is included. As the original VIN Tag and Trim Tag indicate this example was built on the 4th week of January in 1969 at the Van Nuys, California factory. It had a Lemans Blue exterior and a black deluxe interior. Some of the other options included (Z22)- Rally Sport, (Z28) – Special Performance, (M21)- Muncie 4-speed manual, (G80)- Positraction and (J52)- front disc brakes. From the information gathered less than 10% of the 20,302 Camaro Z28 models produced in 1969 were equipped with the Rally Sport option which makes this example highly collectible. This car was purchased in 1985 by its last owner who was the caretaker for the last 40 years! From the information gathered the car spent its life in California, Arizona and Texas. The car was the product of a rotisserie restoration that was completed in 2016. It was restored to show quality condition and has less than 200 miles since completion. A few miscellaneous receipts and photos of the restoration are included. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased this car directly from the last owner in April of 2025. MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of $32,941.32 in service and detail which is documented with an invoice that's included. September of 2025 is the first time MS CLASSIC CARS has listed it for sale. The exterior of this car is absolutely beautiful with its iconic factory design and color combination. From the information gathered this car retains most of its original sheet metal. During the restoration process a cowl inducted hood and rear spoiler were added which is common. Many Z28 models were originally ordered with a flat style hood and without a rear spoiler. The body was taken to bare metal and prepped to be straight with excellent gap lines. The hood, doors and trunk close very nicely. It was refinished in its original color of Leman Blue (Code 71) and was decorated with white racing stripes. This is a very desirable color for collectors. Over the last 9 years the paint had some imperfections so MS CLASSIC CARS invested a total of $15,000.00 taking the paint to a higher level. This process included sanding down the color and respraying it which also included the clear coat. The team at MS CLASSIC CARS recently detailed the high quality paint to a glossy appearance which looks amazing! It was outfitted with all new tinted glass with Soft-Ray Safety Flo-Lite stamps. The new glass includes the front windshield, door windows, quarter windows and rear windshield. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced new such as the glass stainless trim, wiper arms, antenna, front grill, headlights, front bumper, parking lights, front spoiler, driver's mirror, door handles, lock cylinders, rocker panel moldings, quarter trim, tail lights, rear bumper and emblems. The 15” Rally wheels were decorated with new trim rings and center cap. The wheels are mounted to new Firestone Sport Car 200 E70-15 4-ply nylon cord tires that were installed by MS CLASSIC CARS during the service process. Everything on the exterior is in working order including the vacuum operated hide-a-away headlights. Please note the previous didn't want wheel moldings which were standard with the Rally Sport Package. If new owner desires to have new wheel moldings installed MS CLASSIC CARS will do so at no charge. The interior of this car is also in beautiful condition throughout. It was stripped to a bare shell and reassembled. It was refinished in its original black deluxe trim (Code 712) with simulated wood accents on the dash, console and steering wheel. Some of the deluxe interior features include the comfort weave upholstery, molded door and rear panels, grab handle and headrests. During the installation of the new upholstery extra padding was added for comfortability. The interior is the perfect blend of luxury and sport. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced new including the headliner, dome light, rear view mirror, dash, gauges, heating controls, radio, steering column, steering wheel, console with gauges, Hurst shifter, door sill plates, door hardware, seat belts, pedals and carpeting. It was recently outfitted with new correct style black rubber floor mats. The trunk compartment was completely restored and refinished in the correct style splatter paint. It was outfitted with a plastic trunk mat. It's equipped with a new full size spare and jack tools that were installed by MS CLASSIC CARS. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. This is one the cleanest and most detailed engine compartments of any 1969 Camaro Z28 ever offered from MS CLASSIC CARS. The car is powered by the original matching numbers DZ302 V8 engine. The engine was completely rebuilt by Hill Country Performance and Machine. During the service process at MS CLASSIC CARS removed the engine and installed a correct set of 186 casted cylinder heads. MS CLASSIC CARS also had the correct #4053 Holly carburetor dated 912 professionally restored. During this process other the entire engine compartment was refreshed including many new parts. The correct #1100837 alternator is dated 8L23 with correct pulley. The radiator tanks are correct and dated A January. The fan is the correct non dated type. The correct #9204 brake booster is dated 316 day of 1968. The engine breathes out of the factory manifolds and new cambered exhaust system that sounds excellent. The chambered exhaust system was available in January at the time this car was built so it's a correct option. The engine is coupled to a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission with correct #306 side cover. The transmission has no date or VIN stamping. It's equipped with the correct #403 Bell Housing. The transmission was rebuilt by Georges Automotive and MS CLASSIC CARS installed a new clutch. The power is transferred to the original POSI rear end with 3.73 gears. The rear end casting date is A 7 9 and is stamped BU0110G1. This rear end was assembled during the first week of January 1969 and the car was built on the fourth week of January so it lines up. VIN numbers weren't stamped on rear ends so Larry Christensen doesn't ever state that a rear end is original to the vehicle. Larry stated, “correct for the car”. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout. Some of parts were decorated with paint assembly markings and factory style stickers. The underside should be displayed with mirrors at a car show. Everything underneath the car has been restored or replaced new including the fuel system, power steering system, suspension components and power braking system. It's equipped with the correct gray spiral shocks, original type 4 leaf springs and correct #633 front disc brake calipers. If the new owner desires to have this car judged at the Camaro Nationals or any other high level show some incorrect items will need to be addressed. This is normal procedure for most factory restored vehicles prior to judging for accuracy. MS CLASSIC CARS will be providing the list that Larry Christensen outlined of which some have already been addressed. |
