Default 1966 Chevelle rear seat rebuild

It is long past time to replace the upholstery on my Chevelle seats, so I dug into this and documented the disassembly for myself for reassembly. In the course of disassembly, I came across some interesting discoveries I am not familiar with from previous seats. They have poorly made repro, or home made, covers on them.
I think I have seen this layer of jute type material on the bottom of full size car seats. Is it just an added barrier for heat/cool ? I probably won't replicate this.

Once I removed the cover and added foam padding, I found a jute like pad under where the cotton batting would have been. It is definitely original and was hog ringed to the spring.

Piece of jute added to replace missing original.

The jute is quite thick and has a burlap type backing attached.

Another layer of burlap at the bottom, with the spring steel wires.

Anyone know of a source for this burlap with wires ??

Tag on the burlap.

Bare, rusty frame. I took both pieces for sand blasting yesterday.

I checked with an upholstery supply in Des Moines when I did mine and they didn't have the "wired burlap" available. I would try SMS if anyone

PS the two tone C10 sold...

Also, maybe try Steve Augustine ("Auggie") in Byron MN. He's an old school upholstery guy and has done some great work for me. Drop my name.

It's done now. 2 layers of burlap, opposite directions for strength, 1" thick jute I had laying around and after initial fitting, added 2 layers of crappy cotton batting I bought for another project.

Backrest is done as well, THAT was a biotch to get enough padding in the top and then pull down to ring the bottom and sides. If not for my lovely and ever helpful wife, it would not have been done. Speaking of her, she came to the rescue 2 other times. When disassembling I came across an interesting piece of burlap that supports the top of the upholstery and keeps it tight at the top. It was in bad shape and she made a new one in about an hour from new burlap and listing wire on her sewing machine with a zipper foot. Fit perfect. Then, as we were pulling the bottom listing down to attach, one end of the sleeve tore out about the last 4 inches from the end.. not a good place to skip rings at. The sewer at Legendary let the overlap edge get too close to the thread and it pulled out. Again, my wife brought her needle and thread out to the shop and sewed it up and we moved on like nothing ever happened...
