Default 1970 Corvette LS5 4 speed NCRS Top Flight-Duntov-Bowtie Awards, BG Benchmark, MCACN

Here is the listing for my 1970 Corvette Coupe LS5 4 speed car. VERY original "survivor" car now showing a bit over 9000 miles. Since the completion of the judging campaign this past August, I have pressed the car into duty if you will. Below, is a summary of the car's details, judging pedigree, and documents.....

This 1970 Corvette was produced on March 26th, 1970. As documented by the NCRS Shipping Report, the original selling dealer was Sherwood Chevrolet in Tunkhanncock, PA. Later sold to the original owner Robert Ryan of Baltimore, MD on April 18th, 1970. Later that day, Mr. Ryan took the car into Horlacher and Sherwood (a Goodyear Tire dealer) to have the OE F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval white letter tires changed out to the white stripe tires he desired (as seen in period photos). Mr. Ryan used the car sparingly, hence contributing to the cars incredible condition and low mileage. Mr. Ryan traded the car back to Sherwood Chevrolet in approximately 1976. The 2nd owner was Mr. Harry & Barbra Fenwick of Bloomburg, PA. The Fenwicks purchased the car with approximately 4800 miles. The Fenwicks, later sold the car (with approximately 6000 miles) to Mr. Buster Dent (of Dent Auto Sales). Mr. Richard Laubach of Quakertown, PA in mid 1978 purchased the car from Dent Auto Sales. Mr. Laubach had the same vision as his predecessors, keeping the car in it's original and pristine condition.

Mr. Laubach had parked the car in 1985, in running condition. Mr. Laubach maintained ownership for a total of almost 40 years. Mr. Laubach drafted a statement in April of 2018, stating the car had 8762 original miles as of then. It is my understanding the car was sold at that time, as he felt the car would be better served with someone who would exercise the car. At that point, the car was purchased Ken Riley of Modern Classic Auto Sales in Lakewood, NJ. Mr. Riley later sold the car at Mecum Auto Auction in Indianapolis, IN 2018.

The car had 2 subsequent registered owners (whose names will be provided to the next caretaker). I purchased the car in March of 2023. It was at that point, I started to campaign the car though Bloomington Gold, NCRS, and MCACN. Below, is a list of awards the car has received...

Due to the awards already achieved, undoubtedly this car retains all of it's original born with drivetrain, paint, body panels, interior, and all dated components in the car. This car has been judged and scrutinized by most discriminating experts in the hobby.

This car runs and drives like one would expect from a 9k mile car. All items on the car work as new. That includes some of the troublesome C3 features such as the fiber optics, headlight buckets, wiper door, and wiper motor / washer pump. The TCS system works as designed providing vacuum advance in 3rd and 4th gear. The car has successfully completed the NCRS Performance Verification test in May of 2024. Successful completion of the Performance Verification is the segue to the car achieving the NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence Award. The car received a National Top Flight, The Duntov Award, and it's 5th Star on the Bowtie Award in August of 2024. For further explanation as to the NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence award mentioned here, please click the link below.

The combination of an NCRS Bowtie Award and NCRS Duntov Award, makes for a judging pedigree that is very difficult to duplicate. It's is speculated that there are approximately 50 cars that have achieved this combination. This is a serious car for a serious collector. The mechanical integrity of the car would make it easy to press the car into a "Sunday driver" status. Furthermore, the car is a fantastic example of how these cars were when they were new. Undoubtedly, this is the finest C3 to pass through my hands.

A key topic worth noting in my opinion in this offering.....

All of the items that the car has been judged with, will be passed on with the car to the next owner. I am not going to strip the car of parts and details. Just a few examples are filters, tires, PCV, etc.

That is a pet peeve of mine that people in the hobby insist on doing. I feel the purity of a car like this is important.

If interested, you can PM me, call my shop, or email me at [email protected]

Thanks,
Tim
