This gorgeous 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air LS6 Custom is the ultimate Tri-Five with its stylish appearance and modern features. It definitely has “the look”! As the VIN number indicates it was built in Kansas City, MO as a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air with V8 engine. It was purchased by a gentleman named Jerry O’ Connor who lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Jerry owned a Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC dealership for 40 years. The new car business was doing well and by 1997 he began looking for a 55 Chevy hardtop. He owned a 55 Chevy sedan when he was a teenager and even back then dreamt of a red hardtop. So he was able to track down a rust-free body in Drumright, Oklahoma which was only 60 miles from his home town. He put it in storage until the time was right to build it. More than a decade later Jerry retired from the dealership and he wanted to get the car of his dreams on the road. He hooked up with the award-winning D&D Specialty Cars in Van Buren, Arkansas. From the information gathered the build was completed around 2011. It was decorated with multiple awards in 2012 including Super Chevy “Best 55”, Goodguys “Best Street Rod” and Goodguys “Meguiars Magnificent Pick”. It was featured in Street Rodder Magazine. The magazine is included but the awards aren’t. Jerry never had the time to enjoy the car so he sold it in January of 2013 to a gentleman who lives in San Jose, California. The car was kept on display in his facility. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car from him in March of 2022. The car only has 338 miles since completion and this is the first time it’s ever been listed for sale.

The exterior of this 55 Chevy Bel Air is truly outstanding. The bodywork is exceptional throughout. The sheet metal is laser straight and the gap lines are precise. The hood, doors and trunk lid close very nicely. It sports spectacular PPG Guards Red paint that is ocean deep and virtually flawless. The paint was recently detailed to a high level show quality shine by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. The car was outfitted with all new tinted glass throughout which is crystal clear. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced and is in show quality condition. Some of these pieces include all the stainless glass trim, wipers, antenna, hood ornament, grill, headlight bezels, parking light bezels, body side moldings, door handles, taillight bezels and lenses. The exterior mirrors were removed for a streamline appearance. The front and rear bumpers bolts were removed and smoothed. It was outfitted with high density headlights and LED taillights. The car has a killer stance on Boyd Coddington “Junkyard Dog” polished wheels that are 18x8 on the front and 20x10 on the rear. The wheels are wrapped with Toyo Proxes that are 235-40-18 on the front and 295-40-20 on the back.

The interior of this 55 Chevy Bel Air is also truly outstanding. It’s been tastefully designed and well executed. Everything in the interior was restored or replaced new during the build. A new complete Painless wiring kit was added in the entire car. The entire interior was wrapped with Dynamat insulation to keep the cabin cool and quiet. Starting from the top it has a tan leather headliner with chrome rails, two custom dome lights and a chrome rear view mirror. Cadillac Natural Shale colored leather covers the seating, door panels and console while Rolls-Royce tan carpeting is used below. The Cadillac front bucket powered seats are extremely comfortable. The custom kicker panels house the power vent switches and power window switches for all the windows throughout. The custom door panels have chrome door handles with carbon fiber inserts and speakers. The passenger door panel and both rear custom panels have a separate power window switch for the passengers. The rear custom package tray includes two speakers. The fabricated center console runs from the dash, down between custom bucket seats and back to spilt the rear buckets that were also fabricated. All four bucket seats are equipped with seat belts for safety. The dash was customized, smoothed and painted to match the exterior. The dash was outfitted with a chrome gauge bezel, Classic Instruments gauges, passenger side speaker grille with small clock and four custom billet vents that function discretely. It’s equipped with an Ididit tilt steering column that was painted red and billet levers were added. The Billet Specialties Stiletto 14” polished steering wheel was has a tan wrap that matches the upholstery. The center console is home to the Vintage Air Conditioning control panel, Alpine stereo unit, Air Ride Technologies gauges, dual cup holders, Lokar shifter, air ride switches, emergency brake lever and rear dual cup holders. It also has chrome door strikers, custom fuel injected embossed door sills and four custom matching floor mats. The trunk compartment is equally as beautiful as the interior. The trunk lid pivots on chrome hinges. The entire trunk compartment was outfitted with custom matching panels that were wrapped in tan leather including the backside of the trunk lid. The flooring was also covered with matching carpeting.

The engine compartment is highly detailed with many custom parts throughout. It’s truly like a jewelry box with all the bling. Everything in the engine bay was restored or replaced new during the build. The hood pivots on chrome hinges. The backside of the hood is smooth and painted body color. The firewall was customized, smoothed and painted to match the exterior. The inner fenders and radiator support were also painted to match the exterior for the ultimate appearance. The car is powered by a new Z06 Corvette “LS6” engine that was supplied by Street and Performance located in Mena, Arkansas. The engine was dressed with a chrome intake, red Bel Air embossed valve covers, chrome air tube, chrome pulleys, chrome alternator, chrome air conditioning compressor and receiver dryer. The engine is cooled by a Griffin polished aluminum radiator with a chrome top hose, dual Spectra electric fans and chrome overfill canister. The engine breathes through ceramic headers and exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. The engine is coupled to a new 4L60E transmission with Specialty Auto Tech transmission cooler. The power is transferred through an aluminum driveshaft to a new Ford 9” POSI rea rend with 3.55 gears that was painted to match the exterior color. It’s equipped with a CPP power steering box, chrome power steering reservoir and braided lines.

The undercarriage is also highly detailed with many custom parts throughout. Everything underneath this car was restored or replaced new during the build. The underside of this car is so nice it should be displayed with mirrors and lights at a car show. The entire bottom side of the body was painted body color to match the exterior. It has a new stainless fuel tank along with new fuel pump and lines. It’s equipped with a complete Ride Tech front suspension system with powder coated upper and lower control arms, sway bar and air shocks. It’s equipped with a complete Ride Tech rear suspension system with chrome 4-link setup, pan hard bar and air shocks. The windshield wiper motor, power brake booster and brake master cylinder were hidden under the dash. The 4-wheel disc brakes were recently upgraded to a Wilwood system. The front has a 6-piston red caliper with a 12.88 drilled and slotted rotor. The rear has a 4-piston red caliper with a 12.19 drilled and slotted rotor. A battery power cut off knob and charging connection is located in the passenger rear corner.
