Ohio COPO Dealers
1968-70 Does anyone here have a complete list of dealers selling COPO cars during this period?
Thanks! |

I have no idea where anyone would obtain a complete listing of every Ohio Chevrolet dealership that ordered vehicles through the COPO process. Every dealership had access.
What is known comes largely from surviving COPO cars. Many didn't survive, those histories lost. Some of these were Yenko franchisees, did not order their cars. Dealership names are often truncated; Ed Stinn Chev is sometimes listed as Stinn Chev. Info from the Supercar listing on the site. You may be able to find some 1969 Newspaper ads showing 427 Camaros and Chevelles for sale in the dealership ads.
A newspaper search of the local papers for the dealerships may turn some up. |

FWIW, Lyle Chevrolet in Cuyahoga Falls sold some COPO’s as well. The OO of mine from Lyle recalls there being 4 COPO Chevelles to choose from when he bought his. I believe they also sold one ZL1 Camaro.

I’m pretty sure that any time a Chevrolet dealership in Ohio would order plain ‘69 Camaro’s for dealer stock, COPO’s arrived on the transport!

Merollis had five ZL-1 Camaros #11 #24 #32 #37 #50. All were stolen, engines removed. Likely all were recovered and processed through a salvage auction as GMAC was the legal owner.
#11 is the only survivor; #24 was reported as scrapped in MA 1973. The others showed no registration as of the '80s. Could be one still exists as a race car.

Copo Dealers
I worked and raced for Schmidt Chevrolet in Perrysburg ,Ohio. We ordered and sold 2 Copo Camaros , 1 White and 1 Dk Green . The Green one was bought and raced by a dealer employee Tony U, the White one was bought by a friend and then sold fairly soon afterwards. It got passed around and beat to death on the street and was found as a driver with a smoking small block about 15 years ago. It is back together with a big block and wearing black paint around East Toledo. The dealer liked to order cars in with special paint and ordered a few with Cadillac Firemist paint
