If the body hasn't been "restored" with duct tape, rivets and bondo, that is a fair price. If that trim tag is legit, the 4 speed is supper cool and rare.

I looked at this car when it was for sale by the prior owner. It is a real black / red V8 4-spd 300 series 2-door wagon. Super rare, but the trans is not 1-of-2 rare (as stated in the sign in the picture in the auction). I have seen 2 factory 4-spd 2-dr wagons myself, and I seriously doubt I have seen every one that was made!
It is a good car, but overpriced (IMO) given the quality of the paint, color change, the added Malibu side trim, the changes and appearance condition under the hood, and the very ill advised (IMO) interior changes. Rear seat is the original upholstery with the super rare vinyl used only in 300 wagons (and maybe Canadian 300 convertibles), and the 300-only door panels are very nice, so I would think the original front seat and the original rubber floor mat were probably decent too. Shame those items are gone. Unfortunately I can't remember if the engine stamp jibed with the car or not.

I tried to find a deal on a 64 or 65 2 door 300 wagon when I gave up and got the El Camino.
Really nice looking wagons.

The Dad of one of my friends got one of those wagons new in '65. We had no clue how rare it was. We were just embarrassed to be riding in a "station wagon" at the time...

I actually own a 1964 2 door wagon. Factory A/C V8 car that was originally turquoise/turquoise. I bought it because it was the only one I have ever seen in person. I actually saw an L79 2 door wagon on ebay years ago. It was a project and sold in the $30k range. Anyway, they are definitely awesome looking vehicles when restored correctly. Not sure what the plans are for mine but, this is my inspiration to get it done.
A few nice wagons that have sold at auction. Apparently Paul Walker from Fast & Furious franchise owned one as well. ----Had a friend back in the 60's from a wealthy family and he was a hoot! His Mom wanted a new wagon and he went to Frost chevrolet in Wellsley MA and ordered an L79 4-speed 65 chevelle 2dr wagon. To say his mother was surprised is a massive understatement. He was able to keep iot for about 6 months before she traded it off. It was a very quick car and one of the first fast cars I was ever in....Bill S
