I'm a Newbie to the site. I'm also the owner of a Forest Green 1970 Yenko Deuce. It's VIN: 114270W349789. I recently acquired the car from my good friend, Andy Distad. I just don't know much about the car or its restoration. I did note that in March 1975, Mark F. Mc Donald (IL)was the owner of the car, then it was purchased by Bill Ulseth (TN) on an unknown date, then Mick Price (IL) on an unknown date, then Joe Grom (KY)in March 2002. Before 1975 and after 2002, at least until Andy bought the car, are big blanks!
On March 16, 2015, there is a note from Marlin R Spotts Jr. commending an individual on his description of the car in an eBay listing. It states, "The originality of the engine and trans along with the rear end gears matches the information in my Yenko Deuce Registry". If one (or more) of the members has any information about my car, or knows anything about its restoration, could I please hear from you?! ANY help, input or direction to follow in acquiring more information would be greatly appreciated. Rick

Rick -- I know the car well. I had a Cortez Silver Yenko Deuce at the same time. Mark was a good friend of mine in Rantoul, Il who passed way too soon. His Mom and Dad had the car -- how long I do not know ... I tried a number of years ago to chase down the green Deuce. I do know that it had damage to the drivers door and Mark "blew up" the engine at one time. As far as I can remember, the engine was rebuilt by Dave Kohler (Kohler Fuel Injection) in Urbana, Il. This was around late 70s early 80s. I think the engine at that time was a 377ci. If the original block was used -- the numbers will match up.
I don't know what other info I may be able to provide but if you have any other Qs -- by all means, contact me. Craig

Thanks guys for the info. I did find Jamie's description of the car and sent off a PM. Interesting sidenote: I opened the ashtray this morning and found three time slips. Apparently, Jamie took the car out to Beech Bend Raceway in August of last year. The car turned 12.7 at 111 MPH! Not bad for a 45 year old car!

Cool! I believe that there is video of the car running on this site from that event. I can post it when I get home if you'd like.

Hey Bruce;
Many Thanks--I would love to see the video! It's about 105 here in southern Utah. I took the Deuce out for its inaugural spin--no problems. It can still light em up! Temp reached about 180-185 and then stabilized. Oil pressure stayed around 55-60 lbs. Great shakeout after a full Winter off.

Congrats on the purchase!
Interesting that the Yenko Inventory Sheet shows W. R. Austin Chev in CT as the selling dealer. I suspect that if Mark in IL had the car in the mid '70's that perhaps it was dealer transferred to Rodgers Chev in Rantoul, IL?

A point just in your original post has me thinking. Mark claimed that Dave put together a 377 -- if I still remember my SBC days, that would be a 400 block with a 350 crank (or there abouts). Your post indicates the block is original to the car -- if that is so, I'm wondering if it is in fact a 383 using the original block. I will try and contact Dave Kohler and see if he remembers what he built. We all have slept since then -- LOL Craig

I only picked up on the possible originality of the "engine", as opposed to the block, from the comment of Marlin Spotts in March 2015. Honestly, I have no idea if the block is the original, has or has not been repaired/welded or is a replacement. The block casting appears to be casting # 3970010 and there is an additional entry in some of the records referring to 010-V0414-CRE. I'm not sure what this means--help!
