GASSER STYLE BATTERY BOX
hi
looking for plans and measurement to make two gasser/vintage style battery boxes for my 1957 gasser the style i am looking to build are as seen in the attached pic would appreciate any help thanks so much regards chris

There's nothing vintage gasser about those boxes.

Correct Donnie! Most of the time we/they used 2 pieces of 3/8th bolt rod and drilled 2 holes in the trunk and put a piece of flat metal across the battery with some nuts washers and lock washers. Could not just "buy" everything back in the old days. |

I'm with Don & Sam on this. I've been wary of them metal battery boxes after witnessing a fellow accidentally weld a very nice Snap-On wrench from the positive battery terminal to the box itself. If you still gotta have 'em:

It's amazing what you will find when your looking for a specific part or look rather than just flipping pages when your not on the lookout. Also, the Summit battery box Mark listed is almost identical to the 70's style NMW battery box except for the holes in the side. If you want a heavy steel box, buy that one and paint it orange and attach a large NMW decal to it. Here's the one I sold a while back. I think its bolted down in the back of a Vega now. Tommy |
