Default 69 Z28 (302) radiator

Looking for an original replacement for the radiator (CB) of my 69 Z28...or advice on having it re-cored or where to purchase a quality OE replacement. Is there anyone who just sells the core, without the tanks and top and bottom rails...the radiator repair shop nearby can solder it all together. Like to use the original tanks and rails.

I found a local radiator shop that orders cores out of Texas and they furnished me with the .016 fin spacing, core used on most of the Z28 and big block cars. I had him order them with no top and bottom rails so we wouldn't have to remove them to put my correct rails on. He is working on my '69 curved neck COPO radiator now and I should have it back this week. I have been very pleased with the "68 Z28 and '69 396 radiators he has completed so far. There were only about 3 radiator shops left in the Kansas City area and I went out and talked to the closest one and explained what I wanted him to do. I showed him my tanks, rails and brackets and they came out great. Cost locally has run between $450.00 to $550.00 including labor to put them together, but I had good parts that were clean and straight. Have a local shop do your work and explain what you want in detail, in person and with your parts that he will be using. The CRG website has a good section on radiators with details. Clint

Thanks, Clint...I need to speak with my radiator shop and get more detailed in what I want done...maybe call a few others as well. Fewer and fewer shops doing radiator work anymore...only one in the immediate area around Johnstown, PA.

Make sure you remind the rad shop owner (don't deal with anyone but the owner) to keep the little tag, they are reproduced but not exact.
I've been told that Heatex can supply correct cores, but have not yet gone through this part of my resto so can't offer personal experience.

Fred, I would be very grateful if you could post pictures of the correct core (is that correct that Heatex does the best ones?) and side rails so I know what to look for when the time comes.
Thanks, Tim
