			I did some work on some of the cars this weekend including our 68 Butternut Yellow BB car....I thought the performance seemed a little off, so I pulled all 8 plugs (R43XLS AC's)..they looked a little worse for the wear. Our carb doc(Eric) recommended I go to the NGK and increase two heat ranges. So, I got some NGK BPR4ES #7222 plugs, gapped them at .35 and installed. The idle speed increased 200 rpm's on it's own

			Our L72 and L78 engines always ran fine with the AC 43N plugs.  If and when I can't get them, NGK would be my second choice.  With unleaded gas the plugs last me at least four times longer than when I was using leaded gas.  A friend used to do mostly city driving and ran the 44Ns and tried 46N but thought they might be a little too hot.  He never had any damage done though.

	Chevelleless after 46 years......but we did find a low mileage, six speed, silver 2005 Corvette. It will just have to do for now.

[/ QUOTE ] When we were dyno'ing one of our L72s back in 2000 I had an ever so slight stumble I couldn't get rid of...kept trying new plugs (strictly AC's), changing heat ranges, gaps, etc...couldn't fix it. Dyno guy asked if he could make a suggestion, and had the parts store run over a set of NGK's...the rest as they say is history. Unfortunately, the AC plugs you buy today aren't the same as they used to be...matter of fact, I believe they're made by Champion.  |

			Rob, I agree with this...after doing the BB car I wanted to put some new plugs in the 69 granny 6 cylinder. They didn't have the NGK's for that motor..so I installed a new set of AC Delco's. It still has a slight roughness to the idle...I plan to find some NGK's and try them for comparison. We have them in several of the 70 L78 cars and they work great.

I just ordered up a spare set of NGK's to swap out - mine is starting to stumble a bit because I've been idling around town with the track fat jets in it. 			All the finish dyno pulls we have made on the LS6 motors were using NGK and there was a noticable improvement over the stock plugs. Once the dyno pulls are made I reinstall the AC plugs for correctness.

			I really don't remember why I even tried them (even against my own father's advice!) but I've always had really good luck with the Champions in my closed-chamber LS-6. I'll have to look at the number of them because I can't remember right now, but there's a way to change a digit or two in the plug # to revert down to a 5/8 plug from that giant 13/16 plug. That really made plug changes a little easier especially on a car with headers. If anybody's interested, I'll get the numbers.
