1966 Dodge Dart Racecar - 514 Original miles!
1966 Dodge Dart. Raced by Dick Carter AKA Johnny Dart. 514 original miles! New paint and decals as per original configuration. Interior in original condition.
The attached photo shows the car racing in 1966 at Crow's Landing (I believe). This photo was given to me by Dick Carter when I purchased the car. According to Dick, and as he wrote on this photo, he was given a R-Model Shelby to race for Ford in the B Production as #27. Dick claimed that Ford did not want him racing other cars, so he ran the Dodge as #72 in A Sedan under the pseudonym Johnny Dart. Dick raced the car only one season with total race miles of 514. (This probably makes this Dart the lowest mileage Dart in the world.) When I purchased the car from Dick approximately 10 years ago, the motor had water in it. The transmission is like new inside. Dick is a promoter's promoter. He owned Altamont Raceway when the Rolling Stones had their concert there. He claims to have made a million dollars 3 times and lost it 3 times. Asking price: 15K Please call with any questions. 707-974-8061 |

No picture shows up? Would that town "Crows Landing" by any chance be just North of Patterson and close to a small town named Wesley?

Re: 1966 Dodge Dart Racecar - 514 Original miles!
I used to work on modifieds that raced at Altamont back in the 70s. I remember it being a fast track with a valley on the back of one of the turns. If a car went over the fence in that turn it would be more than 20 feet before it hit ground. Was Dick Carter the person that hired the Hells Angels for security at that Rolling Stones concert?

The block and cylinder heads were not salvageable. I disposed of it shortly after I purchased the car. I kept the valve covers and a few misc. parts. The car will need a new motor.

I remember working in the Westley Hotel. I lived in Modesto for a while. Nice car Randy.
