Default Original dealer documents

A friend has acquired two large batches of INCREDIBLE original documents from two Chevrolet dealerships (one in Memphis and one in L.A.). They cover over eighty 1966-1972 Chevelles and Camaros. A significant number of these are L78's and LS6's. Also one L78 Nova and a Corvette in the batch.

For each car he has the original shipping bill, which lists VIN, dealer and zone codes, method of shipping, date shipped, Invoice #, everything that would be on the window sticker (model, options, colors, the full option codes including the version / tracking #'s, and the MSRP for each item), plus the actual cost to the dealer of each item. Then it has the two key #'s, the build sheet ident. no., the destination dealership name and address, and info related to the dealer's floorplan financing through GMAC.

Then on the back of all the Memphis bills there are hand-written entries of the original buyer's name, date of delivery, actual sales price, and the dealer's gross and net profit. Also lists what car was traded in (if applicable), how much credit was given for the trade, what the trade later sold for, and what the profit (loss) on the trade was.

For a number of these cars (mostly 69 and 70), he also has the New Car Order form where the salesman wrote up the deal (with options and prices and buyer's name). Some of those also have the buyer's GMAC financing contract attached along with the service department's pre-delivery inspection records.

The list of VIN's (with last two digits concealed) is below. If you own a car matching the posted VIN, please email me at [email protected] with the full VIN of your car, and some form of proof of ownership (such as a copy of a title, registration card, etc.).

Once a given car and current ownership has been verified, then the price for the documents for that car will be set based on how many individual documents we have for that car, and the rarity of that car and its equipment level. For example, a shipping bill/invoice for a 4-door Malibu might be $50. But an order form, shipping bill/invoice, duplicate window sticker, dealer inspection sheet and buyer financing contract for an LS6 are going to cost a whole lot more than that!! (The “best offer” shown in the ad above is only because you can’t post the ad without a price.) Needless to say, a set of these docs for a rare car would be a gold-mine to the owner of that car -- especially if he is lacking any other documentation.

Here is one example of the kind of info included on these docs:
** 1970 SS 454 LS6, 136370L1565xx, Invoice NL034xx. Ident. No. 3 2227xx. Cranberry red, Black interior, tinted glass, buckets, console, M22, HD battery, Special instruments, AM-FM, rear speaker, cowl induction, Posi, ZQ9 performance rear axle ratio. Key #'s 4F6x and OH3x.
MSRP $4,557.10. Dealer invoice total $3,700.13. Memo $84.11 (included in invoice amount -- I suspect this is akin to dealer holdback).
Shipped by Rail on 12/15/69 to Union Chevrolet in Memphis TN. Received by dealer on 12/19/69. GMAC floor plan note dated 12/27/69. Interest start date 1/16/70.
Sold 12-29-69 to James J. xxxxxxx of Memphis. A $94.26 Commission was paid to salesman Mason, for net profit (after commission) of $180.87. GMAC floor plan loan paid off on 12/30/69. Trade in of a 1968 Buick GS (VIN no. 446378H2581xx) was accepted for a $1,950 credit against the price. The Buick was sold to Bryant Auto Sales on 1/6/70 for $1,950 (they didn't do too good on that one did they!)

I bought my chevelle in 1983 and when I looked for the bill sheet I found it in a million pieces under my dashboard. If any one has papers for my car, I will gladly give a reward. thanks

What are the last 7 characters of your VIN? The 1971 LS5 coupe I list above is an M22 car, Antique Green with green guts.

Most are from Union Chevrolet in Memphis TN, and Joe Torvick Chev. in Cloverdale CA. There are a few odd ones from DeLong Chev. in San Rafael CA, and from Ernest Ingold / George Olsen Chev. in San Francisco.
