As usual, about the time I think I have figure something out you guys post something that throws me for a loop.

There is a thread in another section, "COPO on ebay" where memvers are talking about 05E assembly dates. I thought the 5th week production months were March, June, September and December? As an accountant I am familiar with the 4-4-5 production/accounting week cycles but how did May end up with 5 weeks in 1969?

I don't think anyone has really come up with a valid explanation of the infamous "E" week. It's been offered that the first (A) week begins on the first Monday of a month and the work week was generally Mon-Fri. If the last days of a given month fall in the same Mon-Fri week as the first few days of the next month, they're considered the "E" week of the previous month.

Personally, I dont' buy it. I think it varies from plant to plant and each had their way of doing "A"..."E" weeks. I track 66 & 67 Chevelle VINs and body tags and have found the following months and plants with "E" week tags: 1966 model year Dec. (1965) - KC Jan. (1966) - Fremont Mar. (1966) - KC & Fremont Apr. (1966) - Flint May (1966) - Fremont June (1966) - Atlanta & KC 1967 model year Aug. (1966) - KC Sep. (1966) - Atlanta, Baltimore, Fremont Nov. (1966) - KC, Fremont Jan. (1967) - KC Mar. (1967) - Baltimore, Fremont May (1967) - KC June (1967) - Baltimore, Fremont I'd bet other years and plants would show the same type trend. |

Each Fisher facility seemed to have the freedom to do the build weeks as they chose. So they only generally follow the actual calendar.

I've always thought as long as one day fell between the Mon-Fri.,it was considered an actual assembly week.

	I can see June 1968 & March 1969 as having only 4 weeks,but May,Sept.& Dec. both look like 5 "E" work weeks to me in both 68/69 calendar years. Here's those calendar years.. http://acs.flicklives.com/Timeline/1966_cal.html http://acs.flicklives.com/Timeline/1967_cal.html http://acs.flicklives.com/Timeline/1968_cal.html http://acs.flicklives.com/Timeline/1969_cal.html |

			I agree with you.

I meant to say that I always thought it only took as little as one day to fall between a Mon.-Fri. to be considered a work week,if a plant did indeed observe it all,as in Carls case above. |
