To add to the above, these style tags w/ the DD on them were used on other years/model Chevrolets too, may depend on models/plants/years etc?.

That's not true. I've seen several non-pacers with the date embossed on the VIN tag.

Kurt, then what was the reason for putting a date on the vin tag on the assembly line before attaching the vin tag to the car?
