| Hot afternoon for a car show

Well, it finally stopped raining enough for me to go to a local charity show here in Columbus. Some nice cars were there, temps in the high 80's, the air had a sort of chewy level of humidity. First up, a 350 '69 Firebird. Street rods were here in force. Getting ready for the GoodGuys show this weekend.

Very nice '58 Impala. The noise from the pipes was like music to my ears.

383 SuperBee Original owner 454 'vette. This guy was kind enough to give me 4 new AA's when my camera died while photographing his car. He's been doing Corvette work for 30 years. Heck of a car guy. More to come later...

In Columbus, there are people who bleed "Scarlet and Grey". Here is a good example of Buckeye insanity, (this one is for Sam, mockingbird812, and always a Buckeye). Last one, with a nice story. This sweet young thing came up to me at the end of the show, and told me that the '69 Camaro was her favorite car. She was with her boyfriend and her mom. As a friendly gesture, I asked for her email and told her I would send her a picture of my car, but would she like to have her picture taken by me? Oh yeah! Then she came back a few minutes later and asked if I would take her for a spin in my car. First time I have ever been asked this question. She said she had never been in a muscle car, and so I drove down to the end of the road that the event was on, which has seen some street racing in the past, cranked it up to 6 grand in first, nudged it into second, cranked it up some more and backed off at 85mph. The grin on her face made my day. Honestly, I've never been asked to do something like this, but the smile when I dropped her back at her car, boyfriend waiting patiently, was the best part. She was still smiling when she cought up to me at the light, and turned the other way. Put a big smile on my face as well.
