As unfortunate as it is for those who lost their homes, they may be better off than those who now have a primary residence or vacation home without the view and use of the lake front they paid a premium for. Any insurance guys know if your homeowners policy pays for a loss of value like this from an "Act of God?"

I don't handle personal lines insurance, but "movement of earth" is an exclusion just as "flood" is an exclusion. I believe these homeowners are screwed.

I know that the people that owned the big house that went down the river didn't have flood insurance and are out everything there...it was their vacation house(on the local news)...they had a couple hundred thousand left to pay also...OUCH!
