GM sells a roll that's long enough for many model trunks, so you have to cut to fit, and glue the ends together. GM used a yellow adhesive like 3M weatherstrip adhesive.

I've seen several unrestored originals that had the joint about 12-14" to the driver side of the latch on the tailpan side. They also had a reddish orange mark to the pass side of center on the back glass side.
