Any chance the carb might be a parts store reman? That sounds exactly like something the mass rebuilders would do. Does the pull-off (i.e. vacuum break) have a hole or a slot for the air door rod to attach? Get me the #'s on the side of the carb if you would so I can see what's supposed to be on there and we'll go from there. Eric
