They put a 427 in a 289 slab side body Cobra with wire wheels on it for testing. There's a picture of it in the hard cover Cobra book. The car is at speed and drifting. The comment by the driver was "the torque could have ripped those wire wheels apart". The car was probably converted back to a 289 after testing.
