Although I haven't bought any lately, I grew up on a steady diet of butterscotch krimpets
 There may indeed be a very direct correlation to this phoenomenon and the way I look as an adult. There was a time when you could only get them in this area but I think distribution is much wider now. I don't know if it is actually the case but the word was at one time, TastyKake delivery guys owned their routes and delivery trucks and did pretty well.
