What is the story with the car? I know you mentioned it is a one owner car but how the heck did it stay so nice?? Dad bought it and preserved it as his pride and joy??? Really fine looking LS6!

Hard to tell from a pic but the 1 looks like its pretty high on the pad to have been stamped with a holder with the head on especially with the protruding head plug right above it . Pictures do have a way of making things seem not as they are though. |

I will get that picture too. I have people sending pics of there Original motors that have been hit twice. The bellhousing bolts and mounts have never been touched.. So far three calls came in and said its fine !!

I think the deck is stamped with the assy date before the heads are installed so that looks good. As far as the VIN stamp, I had an L-78 block from an 69 Nova that was stamped once, X'd out, and restamped again. Paul

[/ QUOTE ] The engine plant stamp (assembly plant, assembly date and engine code) was done with heads off on big blocks so there would be no head/plug stamping interference. I have seen stamping partially obstructed by the head. The VIN was obviously done with the head on. Small blocks were plant stamped with head installed.
