Default Re: My .02 on Barrett-Jackson

[ QUOTE ]
My wife watched some of this with me on the speed channel, and she reminded me over and over again how stupid stupid stupid I would have been if I sold my solid axle vettes and my big block vette to go down the tunnel vision mopar path I was on 2 yrs ago. My 2 71 cudas are in the crapper as far a value drop (cool colors and all), the 69 camaro is fine, the vettes are still fine, and thank god the one hemi I got is luckily NOT an eBody. If anything, I learned you never know what is hot from year to year, its always a guess. If you have to have more than one car, make sure you are diversified (like stocks) and you really like what you got (because tomorrow it could fall like a rock). Thats what I get out of the tv circus (razzing from my wife telling me she was right).

I have gotten approval to get a big block nova (69) as long as I sell something 'mopar', while watching this with her. So......hum....

What a thread. Couple of "opinions" .........
1.As Charlie said, I thought robosaurus was such a stupid idea. I was wrong. It was 1 of over 1200 lots and it was really cool. My son has not taken his robosaurus shirt off since I returned. (he watched it all weekend with my wife)
I'll say it again it was 1 lot and a tremendous attraction that everyone who saw it in person was amazed.
2. I have attended BJ etc. for 7 consecutive years. It is an experience which centers around an auction. I don't like it as much as I used to and would like to see the reserve return and with it the return of real cars. But it is an enjoyable time for a car guy and a chance to be with like minded friends (and maybe have a libation). I have to watch tivo to see the cars because you are so busy with everything else, other auctions included, that I see maybe %10 of the cars and I was only at R&S, which I have always enjoyed, for a few hours.
3. As far as the above quote; personally, I buy what I like and drive them. Yes they have to be original motored correct cars but I still own what I like. I like Fords, but not enough to give up space for one. If I was buying like a stock, I would have gotten long Shelby's years ago. So I have ridden my Hemicuda up and back down as far as value goes, but nothing replaces the s**t eating grin on my face everytime I nail it and feel the second 4 barrel open up.

Do I follow the market? Yea you have to. But I really follow my heart and it liked GTOs, camaros and cudas etc 20 years ago and it still does now. Just now you have to be more carefull.
