Bill,

I believe the Chevelle dust shields may have been galvanized from the factory. Whatever the plating, it was tough.

M22Mike does his restorations with silver cad for the dust shields and yellow cad for the caliper brackets. The cad is a bit more durable than the zinc, especially for the northern climates.

We use a local plater here in Akron,OH., he does spectacular work.

Maybe Mike will chime in with pix.
