Here's the link to the Muncie handled Hurst shifter I mentioned: shifter

BTW, you were correct Howard - it was Ground Up, not NPD - sorry

When we bought our 396 car, it already had a Hurst Competition Plus that, as it turns out, was installed by the original owner. The handle came straight up and curved at the top. When I put the seat forward for my short legs, it interfered with the handle in second and fourth. I adapted a bench seat Muncie handle to the shifter and have been happy ever since. Looks correct and shifts nicely. I think that if you spray lubed the shift mechanism once a year, a Hurst shifter would last a life time. Gotta love quality products.

While everyone is in a "shifty" mood, I ran across an old original Muncie [I think ] shifter in the garage. Certainly off a GM. If I post a pic, and a couple measurements, can someone help me ID it? It has two bolt holes on the plate affixed to the bottom of the shifter and the chrome knob with the lift-up reverse lockout.

I also ran across a shifter unit, complete with rods. Man, I have no memory...

If there is a good Samaritan here, please e-mail me at [email protected]. I am cleaning out the garage and getting shed of all the stuff I've had for years. Some of it, I just don't remember what I pulled it off of.

Thanks.
