I don't see a tag, where do i find the numbers.How can you tell that it's a Harrison? It's only a two core. Tried to attach a picture but said that it's to big,I will take more pics at a lower resolution

I believe 2 core would be correct for 396/325 4 speed, no ac. If I recall correctly, the tanks would be embossed with the letters "IA" on the driver's side tank and "XJ" on the passenger side tank. "Harrison" will be embossed on the passenger side tank facing the battery.

Phil,got the numbers and pictures, it says IA on drivers side but says CkD on passenger side, what does that mean? I tried to post the pictures but it says that it cant be any bigger than 101000. I set my camera to its lowest setting, what gives? Posting is a pain in you know where every time you go back you lose everything you did!!!

C k D.... CD is the tank code...k is the month of production...not sure if they use the letter "I" so could be oct/nov....that has always been my understanding of how it works...

The embossed codes on the tanks are just what GM used for identification. "IA" is fairly typical for non-heavy duty Chevrolet tanks for this year, and I believe into 1970 as well. I don't know what the "CkD" application would be; does the passenger side tank have the word "Harrison" embossed in it about 2" below the radiator cap?

I can get the dimensions of the correct radiator tomorrow evening and will post them. That might help determine the usefulness. I've got the original radiators in my 69 Malibu 350/300hp and 69 SS 396/325 hp.

Phil, the dimensions would be great if not too much trouble. Is your 396/325 BB a two core and does it over heat? Another problem is the positioning of the overflow tube on after market tanks which point the drain hose toward the battery?! If the tanks are the same , I can acquire new after market tags, right? I contacted Hector about 350/4spd core in Canada and hope he is still watching.....Pat

Pat, No overheat issues with the 396/325 hp rad (I'm fairly certain it is a 2 core, I'll know for sure tomorrow when I check). It is stock and so is the engine. Has the standard stamped steel fan blade. Yes, the overflow tube on the aftermarkets is pointed in the wrong direction. I had a radiator shop change it for me on one of my cars with an aftermarket rad. I guess it wasn't easy. I believe the "Parts Place" sells the repop tags for about $29.

Phil, my car is a standard bore stock motor also with non clutch 4 blade fan. I don't plan on doing any parades...Pat

Pat, Here's what I found. The 396/325 hp radiator tanks are labeled IA for the left tank and XJ for the right tank, this is for a 4 speed, it is an original radiator. This I believe is what you'd ultimately want?

The IA (driver's side tank is is 2 1/2" wide and can accept a 3-row core), the passenger side tank is 3 1/8" wide and can accept a 4-row core (coded XJ). The measurement of the core is 29", this is the distance between tanks. If you have this, it should fit between your core support and the radiator top plate.

The 396/325 hp radiator is a two-row core. The 350/300 hp automatic with ac is also a two-row core. Both share the same driver's side tank, the 350/300 hp has a passenger side tank that can accept a 3-row core and is labeled CF (it is for an automatic with trans cooler).

Hope this info helps. PM me with your email if you'd like pictures.

If you are going to construct a radiator with the proper tanks, I'd recommend going with a 3-core, the correct tanks would accept that. Just a suggestion.
