68 Z/28 with "LOBO" painted on the quarter panels?

Just got back from the Rod Run in Pigeon Forge TN and there was a 68 Z/28 with "LOBO" painted on the quarters. The car was for sale and said it had the matching #'s motor, trans, etc but said the #'s on the engine were one number or one letter off (I can't remember which one) and thought to be a factory mistake. It looked marina blue with black interior and needed a complete resto. Anyone know if this was a famous racer, a member here, etc?? Pretty neat car. The guy that had it said he had known the car since the early 70's.
