I had just posted a few weeks back about a 66 118 SS old race car I was looking at with a L79 and a PG in it. It was marked on the tag for pg but not the motor. The vin on the car had been changed to a Kansas ID. Who knows. Larry

An L-79 Chevy II with a powerglide would have been an embarassingly slow musclecar. That's why they were never built. Sure lots of drag cars have them with 5500 convertors buts that's a different story. A stock powerglide (slushbox, slip 'n slide, whatever you wanna call them) and stock convertor would neuter that L-79 into a 16 second car. Thank goodness they were NEVER made!

Great! That's more like it. Great car and colors. Those things were very popular in St. Louis when they were new. I love them L-79's, interesting to note that the 12 bolts in those cars were the most narrow ones ever produced. You know, I actually passed on a red/red non-SS L-79 (missing motor) just a few years ago for very cheap. Ouch!
