First, I think this seller IS trimtags.com. Just jacked the price a bit for the sale on ebay to cover the extra cost.

Second, I really don't think GM cares. Not sure why, but doesn't appear that they do. In fact, I have been told (I know... dangerous to assume everything you are "told" is correct) that the guy that started trimtags.com actually bought the equipment FROM GM when he first started making these. If that is so, GM would have a hard time arguing against him using it.

Having said that, something CAN be done about this from a completely different angle. I will be at the reunion. Look me up if you are interested in doing something about this.

I bet it would shock you unfortunately. He does not seem to have any problem selling them.

The guy from Alberta is out of control, a whole bucket of tags "from a long closed junk yard", every tag is pristine on the bag, no rust/stains like the originals. I particulatly like his recent 'Nov '68 X33 D80 tag for sale...nice.

Sometime last year, I remember reading (here or on another board) about a guy in Canada that was popping perfect trim tags. Could be this ebay guy? They arent perfect, but they're pretty good.

It wouldnt surprise me one bit if there is someone out there that has been making tags that you can't tell they are repos by looking, but rather by knowing someone involved.

As far as trimtags database, that's something Ive wondered about for a while now, as well as ol' Bill's db.

Ok...Ok...I guess you got me in the corner on this one....I know you don't feel like this is wrong but what about the guy who buy's a car with your tag on it? And there is no reason for me to argue if this is right/wrong. But now that i know where to purchase the tag's i will take (2) of them! But one thing i ask..............is it ok if i pay with my counterfeit money?

Dan:

Bruce is correct. I don't sell these. In fact, I would like the sale of these counterfeits (and that is what they are - counterfeits - as they are not a "restoration" part) to be outlawed in every state. THAT is what I am saying when I say something CAN be done about this (from a different angle). I just don't think GM is going to do anything about it.
