Looks like it pulled the frame horns in, and the dash appears(hard to tell from the pic) a little buckled. You going to have to replace the frame? [/ QUOTE ] Good eye Shonye! The bent frame was actually the reason for the total. The car is getting a used replacement frame. The dash as well is getting replaced. The only reason the customer is saving this car is because it is a real 138 car with original block and rear end. After disassembly and squaring things back up it really does not appear that bad.

Driver and passenger are incredibly lucky given the fact that they were not wearing seat belts

Glad they are ok. The old 66 braking system especially manual did nothing to help the situation.

Hey Don, Can you retrofit an airbag into that guys column? We have to remember that straight line we drive these cars in should not have any trees in them. See ya later. T

[/ QUOTE ] Don, I was fortunate over the years to own an original L-72 66 Biscayne which I regret selling to this day , also built a matching 4 door l-72, 4spd. Two feet on the brake pedal and the brakes fading away was too common...I was lucky however both times I lost the 4 door due to the brakes a nice soft swamp and a farmers field was all I hit. |

Joseph, I can relate to that situation. I owned a 69 Camaro base car which I raced for 10 years on and off. It was an original manual drum brake car. I could always tell how good the car ran by whether or not I made the first turn off at the top of the track. Back then our focus was on how to go faster not thinking we eventually had to stop. It but sure was a fun car.
