i saw him miss 3rd gear(easy to do) several times and run low 12's that same day.

Put a pro-shifted T56 in one and see what it does.
 The guy's at T56 rebuilds run an 02 Z28 that has been lightened up some, heads/cam/full boltons and its running in the low 10s. I've seen it run at Atlanta dragway and the car is a beast. What is a T56 rebuild? I've got one on the ground right now that might need to meet these guys? Where are they? Thanks.
I see the T56rebuilds.com on the video. I'll check that out.

They can do a stock type rebuild I'm sure, but they specialize in the proshifted gear sets. Basically with a Proshifted T56, its a track only transmission. You basically slam it into the next gear because every other tooth on the gear set has been ground off. They can inform you more about it. I talked to Joe's wife, the lady in the video guiding him up to the line and she was very knowledgable and answered all of my questions. They get a
 in my book.
