| Re: '70 Tuxedo Black L78 Nova - Documented

I just sold my L78 70 nova. It had the custom interior which the woodgrain door panels were a part of.Im told the custom interior was only available in a bench seat car. Does anyone know if that is correct??? I notice this is a bucket seat car with the woodgrain.Ive heard also that the woodgrain was a part of the bucket seat interior only?????? The only reading ive seen on this called the custom interior for bench only and included thicker sound deadner, trunk mat and spare tire cover, thicker seat foam, and a few other small items ..Does anyone know for sure what seat configuration came with custom interior and if the woodgrain was a custom interior only etc??? |

Bucket seat cars were always custom interior cars, and therefore would have the deluxe door panels - parchment in '68-9 and woodgrain in '70. Bench seat cars could also be had with custom interiors, which included different seat covers, and the other items you mentioned. BTW, the car should have a spare tire, I'm pretty sure they all got one even if the car was bought with the intention to race it. Nice car, love the black on black with black wheels!! Not a real pretty pic, but it shows the parchement door panel with the bucket seats on my '69 before I bought it.

[ QUOTE ] I have a 1970 Tuxedo Black Nova L-78 - numbers matching with protecto plate. 4-speed, buckets, radio delete, redline wide ovals with dog dish hubs. This car was purchased at Legendary Motorcar - if you have heard of them, you know their reputation. As for the history of the car, I know it was originally from Nashville, North Carolina and there is a 1992 Pennsylvania inspection sticker on the windshield. [/ QUOTE ] Looks like the dealership is still there, just outside Rocky Mount NC - here's their web site - http://www.lbjchevroletbuick.com/home.htm -Sam

That was my car that I sold to Legendary. I had it for a few years it was a good driver car. I found a 69 L/78 later that is a plain jane to.

Is there anything else you can add about the history or details of the car? Do you miss it? Do you find a difference in the power compared to your '69? |

This car was first listed for sale on this site on July 15/ 2003. Asking price was $26,500. I'm still kicking myself for not buying it, I remember $25K as being the magic number.A week later the car was at Legendary here in Canada, and the new price was close to $50K. Woulda, shoulda, coulda... |
