He wants $3000, but i think he would take less. The frame rail issue on this car is cosmetic at this time. Where the frame curves down in front, and floors are rock solid around the frame. Not anywhere near ones that i have seen the spring come through the rear floor pan. I think the frames in the rear where same up to 81 correct? Not a big deal to find a donor car at a yard and cut a section. I use the scale 1-5. 1 is a new car, or restored to gold standards and 5 is strictly a parts car at best. Roger

For 3k, I would give it a shot. If he may take less, give it a try. I picked up a 73 Z28/RS that was in similar condition about 5 years ago, and paid 2k for it. The one that I bought did come with some NOS parts as well.

Roger,
I guess it depends on what you're looking for in the car. In short, you can probably buy a nice restored or original one for a lot less than you can build one for, even if you got the car for free. The 73's bring nowhere near the $$$$ that the 70-72 cars bring. IMO, the LT model adds virtually nothing to the value over a base Z28; if it was an RS also, that would be a different story. Being nit-picky here, 'stripe delete' is a misnomer. Stripes and spoilers were both extra cost options in 73. I'm not sure about the owners comment about having no stripes due to being an LT model.

My brother has had 2 73 LT Z's neither had stripes from the factory. The one he has now is a RS LT Z 4spd matching numbers... no rust issues... he paid $2500 for it in 1989-90, it needed paint and interior at the time...

[/ QUOTE ] I would tend to disagree with this statement. If you find a donor car with good rear frame rails you will be extremely lucky. Not many yards even keep a car that old. I bought a x-drag car from Georgia just so I would have these hard to find parts if I need them in the future. If you can't hit it with a hammer by the spring eye without crushing it or worse putting a hole in it then it needs to be replaced.

You are correct, the framerails are not the same from 70-81. I believe only 70-73 only will work and finding them is almost impossible.
