that Pontiac guy probably meant it was the last year for the 455.
i had an orange one back in the early 80's.with 308 gears,that thing would fly. they are pretty rare,and i believe 455's that year only came with 4 speeds.

Alex Mair was GM the General Manager of Pontiac and quite an extensive General Motors career. My cousin had a professional relationship with him in Washington. Even the dealer remarked to her that she had to know someone to get the last one "off the line". It was not a case of having the last year of production.
