i don't mind them picking cars apart. It just bothers me when they do that and the information they give or imply is wrong.

does it bother anyone else the way these announcers pick apart the cars ? [/ QUOTE ] You mean the way we do? (I mean that in a joking way!) I'd rather have Steve Magnante or anyone smart enough tell us what's wrong and what's right with the cars. I learn stuff that way. If I was a bidder I'd be picking the car apart, or paying an expert to do it for me. |

i learn from all that too , but i guess it reminds me when i used to take my pro street 57 chevy to local cruises and hear some people pick my car apart. i would obviously ignore them but it still bothered me.

I guess I dont see it as picking the cars apart necessarily. Its more of a first hand account of how the car looks in person, rather than the few seconds of video in each area we see on TV.
If it needs attention in some areas, they say that. If its a very nicely done car, the mention that also. dave

They messed up on the black 70 LS6 chevelle tonight too. When it rolled across the auction block they said it was originally a 396 car when in the trunk there was a document that the seller put there clearly said that it was a LS6 car. Ealier in the program they said that the car wasn't certified as an LS6 and they got that confused when it rolled across the block. I could see a car there not being "certified", but why would you lie about authenticity at a place like barrett jackson, where a car is picked apart before it even rolls across the block.

Bottom line is you have to be cautious about some of what they say. They know a lot, but there isn't any one person that knows all about every car. I've heard these guys quote production numbers and other things that are way off. If they do that with just the few cars I really know about, then who knows what else might be off on. And yes, I know that some of the info they get is from sellers documentation which is sometimes incorrect.

It was great to see the buyers more aware of the GARBAGE going threw the block.
I found the best car down the street at a local car show on Saturday on the way to dinner after BJ's. The best buys were the Street Rods. Now those guys had to be crying! HALF OFF SALE !! A few good Muscle cars but over ALL, guys got caught trying to sell &*^%. Everybody was talking about the quality of the cars and if it was quality, it didnt have paperwork. I just tell it like it is. Sorry NO sugar coating it !!
