Default '68 Impala SS 427 info needed !!

I have the opportunity to purchase a '68 Impala SS427. It has the orig. motor that has never been out of the car, with a TH400. I no nothing about these cars, but I like the body style. Any info re. production numbers, rarity, values, etc would be greatly appreciated. I will update this post with pics soon. The car needs a complete redo.

Thanks,

Russ...

Check out the SS427 site. It might help answer some of your questions.

A good friend of mine is a wealth of knowledge on the big cars and actually owns a 68 427 Impala. His name is Don and his number is 856-467-7966. He is also a great resource for rare parts.
Good luck with the car.

I don't think these cars came originally with automatic transmissions.

Here is a site just for the 68's as well.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. The 427/425 did not come in automatic transmissions. Only 427/385 could come with auto.
