To be fair, I offered up many suggestions as to why it was different. I was looking for any cool stories about how it was changed, not going on a witchhunt. Geez, relax guys.

But, if this were NOT owned by a member of this site would the differences have been overlooked as they were in this case? Or, would we have gone on for 75 pages looking for answers? Not trying to stir anything up, but just asking what I believe to be a valid question.

In this particular case however, the authentication of the car has been proved here so some of the skepticism that arose is not needed. If a car is posted here and is very much in question, all the owner should do is provide documents or other forms of authentications. I do not think there are major issues with a car's paint (even as rare as this where the paint really makes the auto). Paint can always be changed. It is not as hard to find a talented painter as it would be to track down an original motor from a car. I do not think the paint issues with this car were overlooked. I just don't do not believe they were discussed. This is a radical piece of Motion Performance History! -Dan I did not intend for original reply to be nasty or agressive in anyway.

He is not a Member here either as far as I know...he may still be around but he kind of passed thru at a good time and shot us some pics...the only thing I see missing since you pointed out there was a difference..I see there is an outlined pinstripe flowing around the whole hood that seems to have gone missing...flowers and stuff look pretty damn close...

			Hey guys,

I am a member here and posted the pictures of the Motion Manx you see on the SUPERCAR SITE site. I gave the car in question to my father a few months ago. He has since decided to sell it. I was hoping if he decided to sell car, he would list it here on this fabulous site, but he chose ebay. I guess it's a good thing you guys roam ebay! I believe there to be NO paint work/ repair/ or accident since "The Local Brush" painted the car. I am not a paint guy but when I spoke with him he described what seemed like a very eloborate process of layer after layer after layer of Candy, Pearl, then Candy, then Pearl etc. to achieve the final result. As the paint has faded over the years, some of the detail has been lost in the "artwork", but is still visible upon closer inspection.. These don't show in the pictures and I think that this is the reason for the discrepancy when comparing today's pictures to ones taken 30+ years ago. EXAMPLE: Gary airbrushed in a series of circles that grow in size. They can be found at different locations on the body including on top of the front and rear fenders as well as on the hood. They also swoop through the large flower on the hood. You can clearly see them in the cover photo, but they don't show in the recent pictures. However, when you look at the car in person, they are visible, just faded.. This car deserves to go to someone who will appreciate it's history and preserve it - so it is nice to see some interest amongst the true "Motion" enthusiasts Best Regards, Sean |
